the cotton club

The Cotton Club is a series of stamps I designed inspired by the Harlem Renaissance, and the part the Cotton Club played in the jazz era. The stamps focus on four of the greatest jazz performers of the time Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and Charlie Parker. The stamps attempt to highlight the musicians’ personalities and musical styles through the illustrations of each performing alone, as well as the greater picture of them all together playing onstage. The stamps work therefore as standalone stamps as well as continuously flowing stamps.
